Who You Can Play as in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)
These are the characters that you actually get to control in Resident Evil Requiem. Both of them have very different gameplay styles, which makes it fresh as you switch between them.
Grace Ashcroft

Grace is the new face of the series and is one of the main playable characters. Grace is an FBI intelligence analyst and therefore not a soldier, and therefore her gameplay is much more stealth-based and puzzle-based with very few resources available.
Grace is essentially survival horror gameplay and is very tight and careful in terms of resources available. Grace’s storyline is heavily centered around her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, a survivor of the original Raccoon City incident. This makes her storyline very emotionally charged. Grace is voiced by Angela Sant’Albano in English and also provides her face and motion capture model.
Leon S. Kennedy

If you’re familiar with the series, then there’s no need to explain who Leon is. He was first introduced in Resident Evil 2, which was released in 1998. Since then, he has been a fan favorite. In Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), Leon is a seasoned federal agent who works for the D.S.O. D.S.O. is a counterterrorism organization under the U.S. President.
Playing as Leon is the action-packed version of the gameplay. He can use guns, his hatchet, throw melee attacks, counter enemy actions, and even use enemy guns against them. Leon’s objective in Resident Evil Requiem is to dig up the truth behind Raccoon City, which has been haunting him for decades. He’s sent to the Wrenwood Hotel because a police officer has gone missing there. Leon is voiced by Nick Apostolides, who has been playing the character since the release of the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Major Supporting Cast in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)
These characters aren’t available for play, but they play an important role in determining the story for Grace and Leon. They complete the set of all characters for Resident Evil Requiem (RE9).
Alyssa Ashcroft

Alyssa is Grace Ashcroft’s mother and a survivor of the Raccoon City outbreak. She was originally a playable character for Resident Evil Outbreak (2004).
In Resident Evil Requiem, Alyssa is a determined journalist who has dedicated her life to finding out the truth about Umbrella. Her storyline is cut short as she is murdered at the Wrenwood Hotel, and it is from there that the investigation begins. Alyssa is voiced by Jane Perry.
Victor Gideon

The main antagonist in the game is Victor Gideon, and he is a scientist whose research is directly responsible for the current outbreak. His motivation is to use Grace’s blood to release something called Elpis.
He is the one who kidnaps Grace, and that makes him the most dangerous threat in the game. Victor Gideon is voiced in English by Antony Byrne.
Zeno

Zeno is a high-ranking member of a crime syndicate named The Connections, which funds Victor Gideon’s research. The story would never begin if not for the existence of Zeno and The Connections.
Their objective is to unlock the Elpis, which is said to be a virus that Oswell E. Spencer created, with the ultimate goal of controlling human consciousness. He is voiced by Craig Burnatowski.
Emily

She is a grey-haired girl created as a clone by The Connections in their research to find the key to Elpis. She is arguably one of the most tragic characters in the game. The experiments conducted on Emily resulted in her blindness, and Grace finds her in the isolation ward at Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center.
Later, Grace adopts Emily, and both characters receive a sense of closure from their story. Emily is voiced by Emma Rose Creaner.
Legacy Characters in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)
These are familiar faces from the overall Resident Evil franchise, but they appear in the sequel, albeit in supporting roles.
Sherry Birkin

Sherry Birkin is another familiar character from the overall Resident Evil franchise. She was first introduced in the second installment of the series, where she was depicted as a child during the Raccoon City incident. Sherry Birkin appears in the sequel, albeit in a supporting role, helping the team rather than being a playable character.
Again, Sherry Birkin is voiced by Eden Riegel.
Why the Character Roster Matters in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)
Resident Evil Requiem has an excellent cast, and old and new are blended very well. As an old fan, you’ll appreciate seeing old favorites like Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin return in significant roles. As a new fan, characters like Grace Ashcroft and Emily give you a new way into the series, not having to know all of the history of Resident Evil before playing.
Every character in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) has a purpose, whether it’s moving the plot forward, adding emotional depth, or bringing in the new generation.
